ESTABLISHED

Volume 2, Issue 5

Beaver County Detecting Club

Our Second Club Hunt
was held in Darlington, Pa. on

 April 6th,2008

The club members were invited to Brian’s Mother-in-laws home to search for boundary markers.

The weather turned out to be wonderful and the club participation was almost 100 %

Ten club members went to Brian's mother-in-laws home to locate a single boundary marker. Due to the skill of our members we were able to locate three of them for the lady.

After locating the markers, she permitted us to detect her yard and property. This turned out to be a awesome day for everyone.

The members found an Indian Head penny, a beautiful Large Cent, Wheaties, a superb Walking Liberty half, and a super Croton Bell 2 1/2" in diameter..

Thank you one and all for a glorious day.

This will be a woods hunt and it is quite bushy.

The parking area will support about 6 – 8 cars. It would be good if we had a head count of how many were coming so we know who to look for at the restaurant at Sunflower Corners.

Minutes of the April Meeting

The April meeting of the BCDC was called to order at approximately 7:00pm by the club President Red Craft.

There were 11 in attendance with four new members showing up to join the club.

The Secretary Harry Niemeyer read the minutes of the March meeting. Which was approved as read.

The Treasurer Gary Waddell read the treasure’s report which was approved as read.

There was a unanimous vote to make Curt Crocker a member of the Board Of Directors.  This will bring the B.O.D. up to 5 members for voting purposes.

The Webmaster gave a report on our website. It had a few minor switching over pains which were corrected and the site is up and running smoothly now.

Curt Crocker gave an update on the hats we are ordering. The lady doing these is still working on the design and hopefully we will have a sample hat at the next meeting.

Harry Niemeyer bought in some photos of the display at the Ambridge Library. There have been many, many complements on the display. The Library has requested we keep it up until Mr. Laughlin; son of the founder arrives in late April to make his annual trip to the library.

Brown bag hunts.

The Brown bag hunt in Chippewa was discussed, and there was also a lengthy discussion on several possible future hunt sites.

There will be another Brown Bag hunt on April 26th.  We will meet at Sunflower Corners at 10:00am. It was requested by the landowner that there be no smoking while at the site.  Further information will be sent to members via email.

We discussed setting up a display for the May meeting at the Penn Bistro.

The display will be up from 6:00pm until 8:00pm during our next meeting.

Note:  Please try to bring something for this display, it need not be exceptional, just something that you have found since you started detecting.

Also let us try to get to the restaurant by 5:30 if you plan to eat as we hope to start our meeting promptly at 7:00 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30pm.

Next meeting

May 1st, 2008

7:00pm at the Penn Bistro restaurant

New Brighton, PA
