THE PREZ SEZ

First off, I want to express my heart-felt appreciation to all who helped to make our 1st annual BCDC  Boobie Memorial Fall Hunt the best hunt that I’ve ever participated in.

I wouldn’t have thought it possible to have a better hunt than our BCDC Spring Hunt, but there is no doubt in my mind that this event topped it.  Thank you, one and all, for your part in making it a wonderful memory that will forever be with me.

There were some really nice token prizes, 47 in all.  Half of those prizes were made possible because of the generous nature of our membership, and the other half were purchased by the Club with monies that came to be in our treasury as a result, again, of the generosity of our membership who attend and participate in club meeting events.  All tokens were found during the hunt and all prizes were awarded.

One of the best prizes for this hunt was put together by our Treasurer, Gary.  He came up with the idea of having a “Boobie Prize” to be included in our fall hunt, which hopefully will become a tradition.  He buried a tin that had a junk Chinese Coin in it that had written on one side, “So Sorry” and on the other side was written “No Value”.  He then made up a small treasure chest with a picture of our beloved Boobie and placed inside a beautiful Morgan Dollar to be given to the person who dug the “Boobie Prize.”

I was the one who was so fortunate to be the recipient and intend to keep and treasure it always.  Thanks Gary, a great idea and I will reciprocate by putting together a like prize next year.  Once again, thank you all for a great and memorable event.

Please try to attend the BCDC Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5th, as there are a lot of things to be addressed. The big ticket item will be the nomination and election of officers for 2010, so please try to attend and cast your ballot.  Hope to see you there; till then here’s wishing you all the best, for that’s what you guys and gals are truly deserving of.   God Bless us all.

What lousy weather for seeded hunts

This Fall started with a trip to the Franklin County Apple Festival.  The sky was clear and the day was spent eating apple dumplings, kettle korn and riding a hay wagon around town Soon it started to cloud up so we headed home.

I tried to make as many hunts as possible. One day I drove to Westmorland County for the Laurel Hills Detecting Clubs hunt.  This hunt got by without a downpour but it was threatening all morning.

I did not hunt but visited with friends from that area.

After that hunt I left there and drove to Butler, PA for the Paul Kramer Memorial hunt.

I arrived in time to find the members wrapping it up after another rainy hunt. Everywhere I looked was drowned people but they were all happy and smiling.

Thursday I helped Red seed the field for Saturdays hunts because it was supposed to rain Friday.

On hunt day I went to an appointment in Oakland than I headed out to Gary’s brothers place for the BCDC 1st Annual Robert (Boobie) Hromika hunt which turned out to be very nice.

Everyone was having a good time and the bees had a feast on donuts and fingers.

The next weekend Red and I went to Hartwood Acres for the North Pittsburgh Past finders Fall hunt.

It was cool and rainy so they decided to postpone it until the next weekend. This hunt I will miss because I have a wedding to go to that day. Yes they are predicting rain. The day was a success for us because we stopped in to see Harry and Sue Vanriper, who live just a short walk away.  We had some good coffee and conversation. As a dog lover myself, it was nice to meet their two Dalmatians.

See ya at the meeting on November 5th.

The hunters will meet at Sunflower Corners at 9am for breakfast prior to the hunt.

These are very nice looking cards and we thank Sue for her efforts.

It was decided to table the issue of members not making meetings & hunts.

Harry read a letter from the NPPF club inviting us to their November 2nd meeting. There will be a jeweler  there from the Atlantic Gold Exchange of Wexford to discuss gold spot prices, how he tests it,  He will appraise your  jewelry and buy your gold an silver if you wish..
