THE PREZ SEZ

Hi all------sure hope you’ve had some time this summer to get out and enjoy the best hobby in the world.  We recently had a Brown Bag hunt at Bakers, hosted by our VP Doris and I wish to thank her for the time and effort she put forth to make this event happen.  Before the hunt we had a real nice get-together breakfast at the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in Beaver/Vanport.  George joined us for breakfast but wasn’t up to hunting due to a toe he managed to break while doing some household chores the day before.  We hope it’s all better now George and you’re good to go.

It wasn’t the best looking day for a BB Hunt, but at least the rain held off till just past noon which afforded us a few hours of hunting. No earth shattering finds were made but we had a good time just getting together and looking for treasures as a Club.  Bob Smidl made the find of the day, but I’ll stop at that as I feel certain he’ll bring his find to the next meeting for “Show & Tell”. WTG Bob!!!

Our next Brown Bag Hunt is scheduled for August the 8th and will again be held in North Park unless someone comes up with a better location at our next meeting. At our last meeting a couple of fine fellows were elected to serve on the BCDC Board of Directors.  I wish to congratulate and extend a huge welcome to Ralph and Dave.

At our next BCDC Meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2009 we will be determining all matters concerning a seeded fall hunt for the membership so please plan to attend and participate.  Till then, may your finds be many and your troubles few.  Take the best of care and May God Bless.

Red Craft----President BCDC

Oh My - July

July 2009 has been a slow month for Metal detecting.

There has not been much rain to keep the ground soft; in fact in some places out in the open one can hardly penetrate the soil.

It seems like the computer weather report shows many large rainstorms heading our way but they all seem to pass north or south of our part of the state.  The nights have not been warm enough to warm the lake waters. I got a report that two members of the Butler PA club went to Ohio and detected 5 lakes. They came home without many targets and the one came out of the last lake shivering. I noticed that only very young children are in the shallow waters and their parents are laying on the beaches, going in only as deep as their knees. We have gotten weak reports from several other club’s members saying the same.

Sunday the 12th Jan & I went to Treasure Week, which was held in the New Stanton area. We met up with Bill & Misty Jordan from Ohio and spent the day with them in the pool and watching the hunts. I being a past Board Member and Chapter President in the FMDAC had a great time visiting with old friends from all over this half of the country. George Pasvavtis and I went down to watch during the middle of the week.

I understand Bob & Doris Smidl went and they joined the hunts for one day.

So all was not lost for the month of July.
