HE PREZ SEZ Hello, and a Very Merry Christmas to You All. I awakened this morning to our coldest day of 2008. It was zero degrees at 8:00am and after three hours and a bit of sunshine it’s still only 2 degrees above. At least the sunshine helps to brighten our spirits somewhat. Another good thing of note today is the fact that from now on we’ll get a minute or so more daylight each day. Next thing you know it’ll be Daylight Savings Time and we’ll all be detecting away. I am sooo looking forward to those days when we can all get together and do some serious Metal Detecting. I haven’t been out in such a long time that I’ve begun to do weird things just for a chance to use my detector. All “Bull” aside, I actually got a call from a gentleman who asked me to come over to his place and run my detector over the carcass of one of his cows that had been shot a couple of weeks ago. He was hoping to retrieve the projectile that killed the animal. It was just warm enough last Thursday that the smell was a bit intense, but I managed to get past that and located a signal that I felt sure was the projectile. I showed him the area I thought he should cut out and search for the bullet and asked him to give me a call if he had any luck. So far I’ve not heard anything. Is this a great hobby or what! Well, that’s about it for this time. See you all at the January 8, 2009 meeting at the Penn Bistro. Thanks again to everyone for making 2008 a grand and memorable year. I hope everyone has a Wonderful Christmas and a Very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year, and one that includes a very early Spring. May God Bless Us All.

2009
Due to the fact that our next scheduled meeting on the first Thursday of January 2009 happens to fall on New Years Day and the Penn Bistro will be closed, it is necessary that we make a change in the date of our January meeting which will now take place at the Penn Bistro on the following Thursday, January 8, 2009. I am sorry to echo Red but two reminders are needed for those who might be like me, and may scan the articles and miss the first reminder. How about that Christmas party!! It was nice to hold a brief meeting and relax with friends and their guests. The gift exchange went smoothly and I believe everyone enjoyed it. I thought that there were some pretty nice gifts exchanged and that Red did an excellent first time job of conducting it. The party we had this year was so nice it may be hard to top it next year, so perhaps we should start thinking early-on of ways to add some additional activities. We certainly wish to thank The Penn Bistro for their excellent food and service, and for the beautiful room and decorations. Also thanks to those who donated the cookies, cakes, fudge and candies. They did nothing to control my diet but that’s fine “It’s Christmas”. The officers would like to thank you all for a fine year. We wish you and your families and our guests a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year.
